Sunday, 8/2 4:30pm - 5:30pm Virtual Students enrolled in *Reveal! The Burlesque Solo Project* are automatically enrolled in this workshop. A deep dive into the rich history of burlesque, exploring the artists, movements, and cultural influences that shaped the art form while helping combat the historical erasure of marginalized communities. This class examines the contributions of Black, Latine, Indigenous, Asian, LGBTQIA+, immigrant, and other underrepresented performers whose artistry and resilience helped define burlesque across generations. Through historical context, discussion, and archival research, participants will gain a broader understanding of burlesque's evolution and the importance of preserving its diverse legacy. ABOUT BELLA SIN: This multi award winning performer hails from Juarez, in the state of Chihuahua, Bella Sin is a proud Mexican-Immigrant womxn who holds the honor of being named “One Of Cleveland's Most Interesting People 2011” along with the run running tittle of “Cleveland Burlesque Queen”. Sin's contributions to the world of burlesque are truly remarkable. For over a decade, she has been the driving force behind the Ohio International Burlesque Festival, an event that has become a staple in the burlesque community. Her expertise and leadership have ensured the festival's success year after year. As the owner of Cleveland Burlesque (formerly known as Le Femme Mystique Burlesque), Sin has been a driving force in revitalizing the art form in northeastern Ohio. Her commitment to preserving burlesque history is evident in her work as an activist, instructor, and historian. She has also made a name for herself as an actress and philanthropist. Sin's accomplishments have been recognized by numerous publications, as well as in the documentary "All That Glitters." She has also received official recognition for her work from civic and state officials. Sin's passion for promoting and growing burlesque in the rustbelt region of Cleveland and pouring that love internationally is truly inspiring, and her dedication to preserving this art form for future generations is unmatched.
